Photocopy effect

The same page copied again and again, each pass compounding contrast, skew and dirt.

Photocopy effect on a portrait of a woman with black hair, hands on her head, made with the Receipt filter in Filter Archive (Sixth preset)BeforeAfter

Receipt photocopies your picture over and over. Every pass pushes the contrast, fogs the paper, starves the toner behind dark edges and lets the page drift a little further off square. One pass is a look; twelve is a different picture.

Photocopy Effect questions.

What is a photocopy effect?

A photocopy effect makes an image look like it has been through a copier, often many times: crushed contrast, grey fog, toner streaks and a slightly skewed page.

How do I make a photocopy effect in Photoshop?

Open Filter Archive from the Plugins menu and choose Receipt. Start from a preset such as Second Generation or Sixth, adjust the settings while the preview updates, then press Apply. The result goes on a new layer and your original stays untouched.

Can I use it in Affinity or Figma?

Yes. The same Receipt filter runs in Affinity 3 on Mac and Windows, from Filters, then Plugins, then Filter Archive on a pixel layer, and in Figma on an image, frame or shape. One licence covers Photoshop, Affinity and Figma.

Which presets come with Receipt?

4 presets: Second Generation, Sixth, Twelfth and Clean Machine. Every setting stays editable after you pick one, and you can save a stack of filters to use again.

Can I change the colours?

Yes. Receipt has Toner and Paper colour controls, so you can set them to any colour, including your own palette.
